ST CATHERINE’S CHAPEL

SET IN THE FLOOR OF TEWKESBURY ABBEY

Tombstone 1.

Here lyeth the body of HENRY COLLETT of this town Gent who departed this life the 29^th of September 1712 aged 73. (Ref. 5I2)

And also the body of HENRY COLLETT Esq his son late of the Benchers of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn and one of His Majesty’s Justices of the Peace for the County of Gloucester. He died 26^th July 1722 aged 55. (Ref. 5J8)

ELIZABETH COLLETT relict of the first above named Henry Collett died 17^th August 1724 aged 73. (Ref. 5I2)

SARAH daughter of the aforesaid Henry and Elizabeth Collett and dearly beloved wife of Edmund Bradbury Gent died 9^th September 1728. (Ref. 5J11)

Here lyeth the body of BENJAMIN COLLETT late of this town Surgeon son of Benjamin and Jemima Collett both deceased 3^rd May 1757 aged 28. (Ref. 5K18)

ELIZABETH the wife of Benjamin Collett Esq died November the 25^th 1725 aged 50. (Ref. 5J12)

BENJAMIN COLLETT Esq departed this life April the 2^nd 1738 aged 63. (Ref. 5J12)

Here also lyeth the body of ELIZABETH the daughter of Benjamin Collett Esq by Jemima his wife who departed this life March 27^th 1740 aged 4 years. (Ref. 5K21)

JEMIMA COLLETT widow of the above named Benjamin Collett died November 22^nd 1753 aged 52. (Ref. 5J12)

Here lyeth the body of BRIDGET daughter of Henry Collett and Bridget his wife Obt. 30^th August 1754 aged 14 months. (Ref. 5L15)

And also the body of BENJAMIN son of the said Henry and Bridget Collett Obt. 9^th April 1763 aged 3 days. (Ref. 5L20)

Here also lieth the body of WATERWORTH COLLETT Gent Attorney at Law son of the above named Benjamin and Jemima Collett Obt. 18^th November 1791 aged 60. (Ref. 5K20)

Here lyeth the body of ELIZABETH daughter of Joseph Collett and Elizabeth his wife Obt. 23^rd June 1760 aged 6 years. (Ref. 5L21)

Also of the above named JOSEPH COLLETT Obt. 4^th June 1771 aged 41 years. (Ref. 5K19)

BENJAMIN COLLETT aged 14 years Obt. 31^st October 1773. (Ref. 5L24)

Also of JOHN WATERWORTH COLLETT Gent son of the above named Henry and Bridget Collett Obt. 13^th July 1778 aged 21. (Ref. 5L18)

Also of JEMIMA COLLETT daughter of the said Henry and Bridget Collett who died April 10^th 1783 aged 31 years. (Ref. 5L14)

Also of FRANCES COLLETT youngest daughter of the said Henry and Bridget Collett Obt. 22^nd December 1786 aged 27 years. (Ref. 5L19)

Tombstone 5.

In memory of ANN the wife of William Cliffe Gent and daughter of Henry Collett Esq Obt. 16^th October 1777 aged 26. (Ref. 5L13)

ANNA Cliffe in whom the characteristic amiableness of her family above mentioned was exhibited with undiminished lustre died at Dawlish and was there buried in the 33^rd year of her age AD 1801. (Ref. 5M15)

This tomb, number 67 in the Tewkesbury Abbey records, also contains the body of the Reverend Henry Collett (Ref. 5L17) who was the younger brother of Ann Cliffe nee Collett, although the inscription is in Latin
